5 Ways To De-Stress
One thing I struggle with regularly is relaxing and taking time out from our busy life to just chill out. So I decided to spend a few days thinking about ways that I could help myself to de-stress and relax a bit. This is what I came up with;
5 Ways To De-Stress
Take A Warm Bath
The warm water will help to relax your mind and your weary bones. Light a candle or two, a nice scented candle will help to relax you and play some gentle music to help your mind switch off from your busy life.
Read A Book
Switching off from your gadgets and the television can really help to relax you. Find somewhere comfy and cosy to curl up with a good book and you'll soon be immersed in a new world that leaves all of your worries behind.
Get A Massage
I know that this will be out of some people's budgets, but if you can afford to get a massage I thoroughly recommend it. Have a nice gentle massage though, not a sports massage as they can be quite painful (although very beneficial if you have an injury or a very bad back etc). If you can't afford a massage right now, you could save up for one or ask for vouchers for your local beautician/spa.
Spend Time On Your Hobby
If you have a hobby spend some time working on it. There is nothing quite as satisfying as spending time on an activity that you really enjoy and if there's no deadline or pressure to get it finished, then it should be a completely stress free time.
Have An Early Night
Nothing is as restorative as a good night's sleep, so if you're feeling stressed and wound up head to bed early. Often your problems will seem a lot smaller after getting plenty of sleep. If you find that your brain won't switch off, try writing your problems down on a piece of paper and leaving it outside your bedroom. If your sleep is disturbed due to bad dreams, try hanging a dream catcher above your bed, I was a bit cynical as to whether they worked or not until a friend gave me a dream catcher as a gift and my sleep improved considerably.
