At the beginning of every January I set my word for the year as well as my goals.
It may sound strange to set a word for the year, but I find that it helps me to focus both in my personal life and with where I want to take my blog. My word of the year for 2018 was gratitude and I really did spend all year focusing on being grateful for everything I had and all the wonderful opportunities that came my way.
In 2019 I want to grow my blog and turn it into a business. I also want to take control of the anxiety that stops me from doing so many things. A big part of achieving both of these goals is to stop hiding behind my blog and become a bit braver. So my word of the year for 2019 is SOCIABLE.
Why Sociable Is My Word Of The Year
My aim is to be more sociable with both my blog and my personal life. I want to chat to more people on social media and get to know my followers better. I have started a Facebook group that I hope will become a sociable place for parents of teenagers to seek support and I also want to say yes to more invitations and get out more. My anxiety often stops me from doing things because it makes me believe that nobody will want to talk to me. So I decline invitations and stay indoors where I feel safe. I know that sounds ridiculous for a grown woman to say, but that is honestly how I feel.
I know it might sound silly to make being more sociable my focus for the year, but it is something I really struggle with. I’m sure I’m not the only one who finds this difficult. Do you find it difficult to get out and meet new people?
Leave me a message telling me what do you do to overcome your anxiety.
